Produced and directed by Lisa and Nancy and hosted by Katie Couric, this Special uses scripted elements and interviews to present families’ personal stories about coping with the death of a parent, as well as strategies that have helped the families move forward. This show received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Children’s nonfiction program.

Coming Home: Military Families Cope with Change

This Special features Queen Latifah, Elmo and John Mayer and tells the stories of four military families dealing with issues that emerge when a parent came home from Iraq or Afghanistan with a physical or “invisible” injury.


Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times

Hosted by Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, this showcases families who are struggling due to personal circumstances relating to economic insecurity.
